Harper Oliver Hamshaw played for Wakefield Trinity in the 1880s. He played for the team in 1883 when they won the Yorkshire Challenge Cup at Cardigan Fields, Leeds, by beating Halifax by 1 goal 2 tries (11 points) to nil. This occurred in the period during which Wakefield Trinity appeared in the final in five successive seasons, winning three times and being beaten by Dewsbury and Thornes.
